The third of the three commissions that occupied the end of 2016, this one was commissioned by a co-worker at one of the buildings I work at. Originally a Christmas present for her daughter, the timetable moved up when the company announced a buyout/early retirement offer, and said co-worker was one of the ones who took up the offer. Pressed for time but still needing input from the commissioner, I did what I could, juggling three pre-paid projects at once.
This as-yet unnamed wolfess mirrors the interests of the young lady in question, drawing, anime and the fantasy adventure/mythological fiction series of novels forming a sequel to "The Heroes of Olympus". The commission specs included a white (later silver) femme wolf, reading "The Trials of Apollo" while laying on a couch with artist's paraphernalia on the floor next to her. Initially I did sketches of the character head for my co-worker to approve, once that was done I sketched out the body pose, got that approved, then merged the two images in inks. Changes included switching the time of day from daylight to night time, and adding another lamp to the right side of the pic to balance the layout. Final touches include the "How to Draw Manga" book on the floor, a clipboard with some markers and a half-finished head sketch, and a ream of Staples paper.
Technical:. Nothing really to report, although I did find out my ancient image editor could perform X and Y-axis rotations on objects. That's how I got the Trials of Apollo book cover bitmap correctly mapped onto the book the character is holding. I couldn't locate a proper image of the spine however, and had to use one from the UK release of the book.
Pencil on bristol, inked and composited with Inkscape, colored with Micrografx Picture Publisher 10. Ten layers excluding attributions, 387MB uncompressed.
