Endless Realms - Brimtide Campaign Cover
Campaign artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.
A poster-sized illustration/cover art for the Brimtide Campaign adventure for Endless Realms - a human peacemaker, a Silean knight, a Dengu animancer, and a Yakshi shrinekeeper (plus Gana companion) get their first impressions of the Alesworn Order tavern in the port town of Brimtide Point. This one was particularly challenging since I'm horribly uncomfortable with drawing buildings/towns/cities, but I'm (mostly) happy with how it turned out :) Or maybe that's just what I've fooled myself into thinking after working on it for days @_@

The center background building looks rather miniature compared to the rest around it. It would be nice if that one building could just be scaled up a bit.
But I only noticed it after reading your concern. And the way the town tapers off to infinity has a slight oddness to it.
That said, the buildings themselves are very convincing and appealing! The ambiance is interesting, and I like the warm glow of the windows - inviting, with a bit of mystery. I feel a quest getting underway I have no doubt the oddities are things you'd master in short practice.

The main building/tavern? Or did you mean Angry House (lol, so angry)? Or distant lighthouse?
*chuckles* If it's a bit odd, I'm sure that's okay, but it was tough because there's an upward incline at the end of the street, and it's supposed to be a few miles to the lighthouse, didn't really know how to deal with that, but I'm sure a little squiffiness won't hurt too much :V
Yeah, I wanted everything to be dark and dreary, with the lights being warm/comforting in contrast :) Thanks for the feedback!

Oh, I know Angry House is a bit smaller than the buildings around it, at least for a two storey building. It was somewhat intentional, in that I wanted it to be smaller and not quite line up with the various "height lines" of the surrounding buildings, hoping to give the town a subtle discordant/ramshackle feel without actually having the buildings be in gross disrepair. Also, the town is supposed to be fairly racially diverse - maybe the house belongs to/was built by one of the smaller races?
Or maybe it's just shorter than all the other buildings, and that's why Angry House is so mad :V
As for why I made it angry, it just sort of turned out that way XD I noticed it afterwards.

*Alert Randomness ahead*
Alright I have an idea of the secret of this town. The people at the light house store and steal the rum and alcohol from the towns taverns and hide it away underground. Therefore the sailors in town don't have a cheap and easy way to calm down so they cause a massive ruckish in town so the guard has to call in help. With the drinks gone it would also affect the rituals at the shrine which makes them send the shrine keeper to figure out the situation. After a squabble in the local bar the adventures are lead up to the light house where a crazy old man keeps yelling at the party, "GET OFF MY ROOF". If the party decides to go inside and investigate they will find slimes/ oozes/ that have been feasting on the alcohol, with some of them fermenting thanks to chemical reactions. So if someone strikes a match or uses fire/electric magic everything goes up in smoke. At 4am that's all I can come up with xD
Great work on the town, and atmosphere.

Well once I look at the image and then read the description you put with it my mind just starts running for the fences with scenarios. I mean I wonder about how big of a town it is or how things will go with them. All the creatures you've done make it easy to come up with silly situations that may or may not be fun. All depends on the group you'll with xD
Well, the town is this big ;) --> www.furaffinity.net/view/21162221/ - should be able to walk from one side to the other in a few hours. I ended up doing a version with a distance scale, and it's just over 2km to go from the entrance to town to the town square.
lol, yessss, things can get crazy silly depending on the people you're playing with XD The story, setting, creatures, NPCs can all be entirely serious, but players will still find a way to make things ridiculous XD
