Dante the snowleopard in Afghanistan with his rifle, behind the wire...
He is a "weekend warrior", but since that term is somewhat misleading - theres a quote at the bottom of the piece "One weekend a month my @$$!" ...
Dante is copyright

The Perversity Of The Universe Tends Toward The Maximum: The Universe Is Hostile. Finagles First Law
If Anything Can Go Wrong, It Will. Finagles Second Law
Blessed Be The Pessimists, For They Have Made Backups
There is only one Finagle, and Murphy is his prophet.
Sol Belter's Church of Finagle - Ringworld - Tales of Known Space - Larry Niven
that's about all I can say about Murphy beyond the three laws that govern the universe
First, Murphy's Law: If Anything CAN go wrong, it will
Second, Finagles Axiom: If Anything Can go wrong, It WILL go wrong, at the Worst possible moment
Third, O'Toole's Theory: Murphy and Finagle were F*CKING Optimists!!!

The Internet knows everything! http://usmilitary.about.com/od/theo...../f/faqflag.htm It dates back to flag-carrying, apparently - when moving forwards with the flag flying out behind you, the flag as seen from the right appears "backwards" because the stars are always closest to the flagpole. I learned something today.
From what I understand, the US Army Reserve, as well as the National Guard are supposed to serve 'part time' - one weekend a month - but when they get deployed overseas, obviously this is not the case because they would be deployed there for months, rather than just one weekend each month - so the idea of "one weekend a month" is kindof a joke, in a sense... because it usually doesn't work out that way.
Ha, USAR is so lax till you're deployed.
Heh, pretty awesome job on all the details, but I didn't know that anyone still has that kind of desert camo uniform anymore. Ah well, if he had sent you pics of it then it's right based on whatever SOP he's following, eh? :3
Also: mmmmmm, M16A4 and a Mod Deuce

Being nitpicky. *inserthappyfaceplzhere*
1) fat-ass, standard olive drab box of a fuckton of .50cal rounds is missing on the M2. that small belt of ammo won't last long. Most of the gun emplacements are behind HESCO bastions (aka. giant bags of sand or dirt), but it's more than understandable to leave the sandbags as is unless one's gets a real good stiffy out of getting all the minor details right.
Also if this was early-war commision stuff, then he'd be wearing the old desert camo, and the M2 wouldn't be festooned with rails and optical sights, so that stands correct. But at the same time, the commisioner wouldn't have an M16A4 if he was wearing the tri-color desert camo, because the railed M4 / M16A4 weapons systems came with the new Army digi-camp (ACUPAT).
2) WHY ISN'T HE WEARING HIS VEST AND HELMET. If he's out on the wire, he needs protection.
3) ACOG sight on M16A4 is on a wrong mount.
Aside from that, I don't even comment on your art because it all deserves the same response, and it's going to be a huge timewaster to say it all the time.
YOUR ART IS AWESOME. NO AMOUNT OF FACTUAL ERRORS CAN MAR THE GENIUS.
