Giant Panda Costume
This costume was originally made as a cosplay of Panda from the anime, Polar Bear Café (Shirokuma Café). It is a semi-realistic Giant Panda suit and comes with 2 Panda Pouchettes (handbags).
Head:
It was made on a resin base by Crystumes and heavily altered with high density upholstery foam.
Jaw is hinged but I was unable to get it to function properly. The buyer is welcome to try and make it work! There are 3 fans within the head. There is one fan in each ear to blow hot air out and one fan in the muzzle to blow fresh air in. Each fan takes one 9 volt battery. The cheeks also glow pink. There is a button under the fur on the right cheek to turn the lights on and off. The cheek lights take 2 AA batteries. There are pouches for the battery packs in the lining of the head. Each battery pack has a on/off switch. Batteries are NOT included.
The jaw set was sculpted and painted by me. The tongue is pink fleece. Eyes and eye lids are by Dream Vision Creations. Ears are mounted on springs and will sometimes wiggle with the head. There is a zipper up the back of the head but it is not needed to put the head on or to take it off.
The head will fit 21” – 24” or so inches. There is a nylon strap on the inside that tightens or loosens to fit different head sizes.
The entire inside of the head is lined and there are flaps that open to reveal the jaw hinges for maintenance.
The head is HEAVY.
Hands:
The hands are carved out of high density upholstery foam and are lined. Claws are by Dream Vision Creations and painted by me. All of the fingers (except for the one for the “thumb”) can move. The paw pads are made from silicone.
They fit medium-small hands. My hands are about 7.5 inches from tip of middle finger to wrist. These will NOT fit large hands!!
Feet:
The foot paws are carved from high density upholstery foam and are lined. There are no shoes inside. There is an EVA foam bottom and are INDOOR feet. The paw pads are made from silicone. They comfortably fit feet that are size 9.5 women’s US. My feet are about 10 inches long from tip of big toe to heel. They are 4 inches at the widest. The foot paws will fit slightly larger feet and will easily fit smaller feet.
Body:
The body was made from high density upholstery foam with strips of EVA foam to help hold the shape. The body is hollow and there is no foam in the arms. It is lined with athletic mesh material. The lining is lose around the legs, so take care while putting it on so you do not pull the lining from the foam. There are two strips of EVA foam visible to hold the body suit up with your shoulders. I am about 5’ 5” and 125-130 lbs. The body will very easily fit someone heavier (as it is hollow) and will fit a few inches taller. There is an invisible zipper located on the back. It is NOT easy to zip by yourself!!! The fur on the arms is extra long to go over the edge of the hand paws.
Panda Handbags:
There are 2 hand bags included. One is made from fake leather material and was commissioned. I did not make that handbag. There are some small stains on the white material. The zipper functions properly and you can store items within the bag.
The second bag was made by me and it was carved from foam. It is covered with very soft minky. The zipper does not function and is permanently closed. It is more anime accurate than the first bag.
I’ll also include a laminated badge with badge clip. The image is a screenshot from the Polar Bear Café anime with the name “Panda”.
