WOAH! Caishy I just LOVE what you are doing with your markers!! I love how you are obviously combining lots of varying shades and colors here... I especially like your use of other colors against the main color... like the use of the blue/purple on Anz's orange and the yellowish color you used on your purples. I have never understood how people know how to do that.. I was just talking to Chiv about it yesterday and how I wish I could do that!

Ack, thank you! The color combos use what are called complementary colors, or essentially their opposites. Purple/yellow, orange/blue, and green/red are the combinations. You can tell which color is complementary to a primary color by looking at the color directly across from it on the color wheel.

Or you can just remember that primary color A is complemented by primary colors B and C mixed together.

Does that make sense? I'm really good at learning, but not so great at teaching.

Nonono, that makes perfect sense! I do remember stuff about primary colors and all that stuff and the color wheel, I just hadn't put it together that you use the complementary color to shade the color you're using. I just didn't see that when I was looking at these pictures.. it makes a lot of sense tho, I must give it a try sometime! Thank you Caishy!! <333

I recently got this awesome book on bats from the used book store - SO many nice pictures of wings and diagrams of the different facial conformations for insect, nectar, and fruit eating species :O

Thank you so much! I hate it when people draw all bats looking like dogs. I really want to try out different species. And I definitely need to find some good refs for the different wing types. I'm still trying to master the whole chiropterid thing.
