2 hour speed painting testing my thoughts on visual hierarchy. My thought process was that I could cram anything I want into a painting as long as it's keyed correctly.
Just a quick run down of keying. When you key something it locks it into a value or color range. in each key the darkest darks and the lightest lights will stay in their respective range. I tried to treat each different key as a spate smaller painting within the whole painting. Focal points are best to have areas with the most contrast because contrast draws the eye.
Tried a lot of new things with this painting, such as making my own brushes. The mixer brush takes some getting used to, but it's interesting. I'm also trying to break away from using such a dark palette all the time. All this makes me realize that old habits do die hard.
