Critter Boys: Mouse
Critter Boys - A series of drawings intended to showcase the appeal of rodents and similar creatures in a community that overlooks them in favor of the same few, overused species.
And boy did we do it with this one.
I made the last-minute decision to color his forearms and calves a darker shade because I have an intense weakness for an anthro with that kind of coloring. But was it the right decision...? Well, why don't YOU tell ME.
Anyway, if you like mice, then you like this drawing. Failure to fave it and possibly tell all your friends about it would be a betrayal of yourself, of rodents, and of society at large. And when you consider recent events, can society really afford one more betrayal...?
Do the right thing.

Harvest mouse is the species I am. Native to Europe (and parts of Asia). Golden body with white chest. Small, precocious, and the only mouse with a true prehensile tail! They often hang from things.

Certainly colorful and cute to look at!

I recall the days when Field was simply a "Timid, Honey-Tan Field Mouse." The world I growed up in is gone.
I've heard of 'em though, though I'm perhaps not as up on mice as I should be. I sort of like deer mice, if they're the ones I'm thinking of with the inner-ear fuzz. I just looked. I don't see fuzz. So I don't remember what it was called. Am I fucking fraud. Usually I look them on a situational basis like "What kind of mouse would be from this region..." especially if I'm writing a story or something. The mouse in the story I posted yesterday (Yeah, THAT'S been doin' well!) was adopted from India so I had to look up Indian mice. And...now I forgot what species I decided he'd be.

Well, when I rebooted/rewrote my sci-fi stories, I nailed down a specific species for Field. And settled on harvest mouse. It seemed unique! But, yes, there are all kinds. I should include more in my stories, but I feel description is not my strong suit, and I would worry about differentiating them if they interact.
I remember thinking that with all of the inter-species shenanigans on "Squirrel's Spaceship of Love and Occasional Space Exploration" it seemed odd that nearly all of the species in the story were one specific creature. Squirrel, mouse, rabbit. But since you allowed a bit of breathing room in breeding compatibility it'd seem like a lot more of them would have been hybrids from the start since it was apparently common. Now, I'm not a big hybrid guy myself and I only allow them in very strict ways in my world (Mice and rats could do it, squirrels and chipmunks, but not like, rabbits and mice), so it's probably just as well. But still. I noticed.
I assume that's why people like me so much, because I point out annoying shit like that about their life's work long after the conversation was probably supposed to be over.

What a demure homo.
THe shading along his belly and right arm is really nice-- very present. There's a nice glow to this one. The mildly tense/closed pose gets across a kind of guardedness while he still somewhat confrontationally meets the viewer's gaze.
Definitely one of the best made figures you've done.
For some reason the little detail of him raising that one toe keeps catching my eye.

Your pro-bear anti-twink agenda has been clear for some time.
Thanks. I decently straddled the line between shapely and mousey here. In my little world, mice don't really have a model-like body type, which is why I toned down the original figure a bit. So he's above-average in terms of figure but not beyond the realm of reason.
And I thought that toe thing was pretty cute when I added it.
