This steam locomotive is the centerpiece of the Great Plains Transportation Museum in Wichita, Kansas. Built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1938 at a cost of $178,767.17, it was finally retired in 1958 and donated by Santa Fe to the city of Wichita.

I agree to your thoughts as well. You will find in its blueprints the same craftsmanship. I kind of miss those days even though I know our advancement is most likely for the better.
Supposedly that locomotive has 66,000 lbs of traction (tractive effort) too. That's pretty darn good for a steam train. (At least the ones I've heard of) Woof! <3
