The character telling this story does not exist.
the first three paragraphs came to my head sometime whilst NOT SLEEPING last night, and the rest flowed from there.
I plan to make installments, from this character's perspective, someday. later.
Take these installments as a Challenge.
CHALLENGE 1: SAYING HELLO.
Lock eyes with people you meet on the street, whilst walking, biking, or other, at random, and say, in a cheery voice, "Hello!"
do NOT SAY "Hey" it is moderately rude, especially when using it to people you don't know in a passing/greeting.
"Hi" is acceptable, but "Hello" means that you're putting effort into it, Yanno?
If you have time, feel free to go along with any other banter. ""How are you?" "Fine, Thanks. Yourself?"
Remember to remain cheery. Lying is acceptable because, really, no stranger wants to hear how horrible your life is. Save that for friends and family.
ProTIp!: DO this at home, as well. When You walk in the door, Greet everyone Individually, in the order you meet them.
"Hello, Brenda! How was your day!" It reminds them that you know that theyr'e a human being, and they're return the favor. It's a good relationship strengthener- just remember to listen to what they have to say when the conversation opens up!
Remember, everybody:
SMILE AND WAVE!
