This topic i've been wanting to talk about for a while. Not all matted fursuits are dirty!! Its a pet peeve of mine when people assume that just because a fursuit is matted it's automatically dirty. They more than likely just need a good brushing!! I finally got around to making a video that talks about this! Of course this isn't always the case but I feel there are more suits that need a good brushing rather than a full wash!

i am guilty of assuming suits are dirty but normally for good reason,
i use shaggy fur for my suits myself, so i can normally tell the difference between unbrushed shaggy and , never been brush once in its whole existence looking suits. i normally only assume a suit is dirty or used for undesirable activities if the head/suit,ect is so matted it looks like a carpet.
shaggy is <3 though

Regardless it's a visible indicator that the suit needs more care. If it looks matted it needs a good brushing, not washing. It may not be dirty, then don't wash it, but invest the time to whatever activity is needed to make it look groomed, simple as that.
If we're talking cons, yeah I understand suits will mat easily under the arms, on the neck, thighs, handpaws etc but that's part of having a suit. If you don't want people thinking your suit is dirty because of matted fur, spend 20 mins before or after suiting to brush it out man. Seriously it's just part of maintaining a fursuit.

Not to defend the other side or anything but if a fursuiter doesn't brush their fursuit often enough that's one thing, but if a fursuit looks like a carpet it's only natural to question what kind of sanitary care that fursuit has missed in x number of years.
I don't think it's fair to point fingers at suiters because they have some tangles in their pits, but I do think it is important to emphasize that fursuits need a loooooot of care, especially if the owner of that suit is partial to the way their suit is viewed by the public.
A fursuiter who doesn't brush regularly might not sanitize regularly after wearing, not dry it out properly, who knows what else. Obvs you can tell the difference between a sessions worth of tangles and a whole weekend worth of matting, and this suit here doesn't look at all matted. So whoever is calling this Suiter dirty is probably a jealous DAD lover or something. I dunno just my 2 cents man
