Ripley is my Merauke Blue Tongue Skink I bought myself for my 25th Birthday last weekend. No idea if male or female, and it's pretty much impossible to tell without "popping" [which is extremely dangerous for the animal if you are not an expert] or an x-ray. Basically just gotta wait until it gets bigger and wait for breeding behavior. Right now, I've decided that she is female.
She's settling into her new home nicely and no longer hisses at me when I go to look at her, pick her up, or feed her.
I JUST CAN'T GET OVER HOW PERFECT SHE IS. EVEN HER POOP IS PERFECT [yes I have to check her poop to make sure I don't see parasites or a lot of undigested food and make sure it's not runny. It's a gross but critical part of reptile keeping]
Every other day she eats a mix of collared/mustard/dandelion greens and green beans chopped and stuffed into a food processor so she can't pick out the good stuff, then she gets finely shredded butternut and spaghetti squash, and to top it off, she gets some high-end wet dog food for protein. Dog food is mixed with everything else so she can't just pick that out and eat it. Calcium + D3 and multivitamin powder are added to her food & mixed twice a week. She also gets dubia roaches and I'll be ordering some parasite and pesticides-free snails for her when she gets bigger.
Sometimes she gets a quail egg, which she goes NUTS for and she also loves strawberries :3c
I honestly haven't been happier with an animal. I've really missed having a lizard. Sure, I've got leopard geckos, but they hate being held and they just don't have as much personality as this little girl. I cannot wait for her to get bigger.
Stumpy little skink legs on such a long and round body make me giggle so much I love them
Thinking about making a BTS character based off of her.

Yeah, males can also be sexed if they manage to leave sperm plugs behind.
This one was about $220, but young ones average around $150-$250 depending on color, species, sex, etc. online and from breeders.
She was a pet-store one [but from a good store, nothing like petco...], so I'm unsure of her lineage. I normally go after breeder-sold animals, but she was just too perfect to let someone else have her, hahaha.
