Builders of the World #6: Fänes the Feathered King
6: Fänes (Fay-ness) the Feathered King / Firebird / Scarlet Wings / Flame’s Heirs
The most ordinary appearance of the bunch: a man with relatively long yet not too long red waving hair and wearing a hat with a feather; a simple brown coat and a poncho of feathers would also be regularly worn as his namesake, the latter mostly for public appearances but for keeping oneself warm as well.
One thing that would make him stand out among most other people, even the unusual ones, would be his deep red shades of hair and facial hair.
He is also often depicted carrying a staff with a bird's head.
Little is known about this man except he had always stood on the side of humanity first and foremost, and had a strong disdain for Nekhronos and Verod who he saw as naught but charlatans.
He was supposedly the first flame sorcerer, and also an adept shapeshifter who would often take the form of a red cardinal when scouting and exploring.
In the very first and last time his wrath was called upon, during the War of the Rift he turned an entire monster-infested forest to nothing but ashes, expending a great deal of power until finally coming face to face with a vulpine demon/shade known as Kieran, who had originally lived there and was crushed to see his old home burned down.
After he and the shade made peace they parted ways, and Fänes joined up with Verod, Sin and a few humans to ensure the death of the great wolf Yorath, who had grown old and paranoid.
He would be one of the gods to grant Pharod the Deceiver his final judgement, and was the one to suggest the method of sealing him unto the abyss.
After Ana’s burial he devised a plan, a way of thinking to eventually unite all the peoples of the world so that such great wars might never happen again.
It is unknown to where he left or went, but it is strongly implied that all the flame sorcerers of the world have some sort of blood relation to this enigmatic traveller.
While the Scarlet Wings of Rebirth were founded in his name with the goal to cleanse the world of perceived evils, the Heirs of Flame would be more inclined to help realise the prophecy of the future world empire.
