what you care about:
it's a rat girl. been practicing more anthros and though i'm not happy with being stuck at the Dark rats, i'm happy with the total outcome.
what you don't care about:
hrist darklowe has been sent to the homeland of one of her parents, at the wish of her late grandmother. there, she's given the chance to explore the powers she's inherited from both parents: one, the ability to read lines of energy, and the second, Old Magic affinity... voodoo. they compliment each other well.
in her mix of the powers, she can summon spirits that she's referred to as Loa (something like angels, but not, in voodoo) and becomes the horse (medium) for their power. depending what Loa she's summoned, the environment immediately around her changes. for example, if she summoned someone like Nike, then grass and her hair could be seen blowing much faster than it should. in the case of the current picture, summoning Devil Dark, her grandfather on mother Jenet's side, corrupts the world around her... things get Silent Hill and die around her. however, the effect is only visual; there is no true decay as is shown when the summoned Loa leaves.
the Dark line of rats are traditionally pirate-types, hail from somewhere near Aegiese, speak in a heavy Cajun accent that's been referred to as "Rogue Aegean" since Aegean sounds like French and German (hrist is near unintelligible), and have rather large, pointed ears (a rogue aegean trait). while she has jenet's "big ear" gene, loki's "little ear" culled the size and point (of both the ears and the length of the tail) by a considerable amount. Dark rats also have a D-letter nickname. grandparents were Diamond (for beauty) and Devil (for his appearance and fighting demeanor), her mom is Damned (because she curses whenever someone so much as scoffs in her general direction), and for the role her grandmother wants her to play, hrist has taken "Dragon."
she's also white, unlike gray-from-sun jenet. instead of reverting to the family name of "Dark," she keeps her mom's changed surname of DarkLowe to indicate that she won't practice piracy, but is perfectly fine with her heritage.

Really pleased with the ink splatter. It's like someone went and murdered an ink well.
Something tells me that energy reading has something to do with her outline. An interesting effect against the muddy inky background.

i'd figured out how to do what i wanted. i'll spare the boring details of it and just thank you.
yeah, she'll have to be reading energy to use Loa at all, and her seeing the neon lines means she's reading energy [remember when her eyes had colored veins around them in the school?]. i'm sure she'll end up with nosebleeds from piling on powers like that.
