Story by Zeus.
".... Get back, Scarlet."
The voice of the brave, unnamed prince was a harsh and no-nonsense whisper among the sounds of falling water and shifting sands. The Island of Time was a treacherous place: traps, demons, curses, and labyrinths laid in wait to hinder and destroy anyone looking to reach the royal chambers of the Goddess of Time. The Prince was here to take the head of the Goddess and change his fate; a fate that he couldn't let come to pass due to the horrific nature of his loss and untimely demise.
He wasn't even supposed to be alive, but he has fought back against fate at the apex of its uncanny reign. With nothing but courage in hand did he brave the daunting halls of the Island's temple-palace, unraveling machinations and contraptions along the way in order to complete his journey in killing the Goddess and taking the Sands of Time for his own. Scarlet was a woman he met that promised to take him to her Goddess; the one she served so willingly. Throughout the many twists and turns of palace was her true identity finally found to be the actual Goddess herself, but not before she did battle with him in order to change her own sorrowful fate.
As the warriors danced the waltz of death with their short-swords, they eventually came to an understanding that by using cooperation, their fates could be undone together instead of in opposition with one another. Upon realizing this, however, the both of them were ceremoniously attacked by an indestructible creature forged by the Gods of Creation themselves: an abominable existence that had been chasing the Prince throughout the entirety of the Goddess' Temple-Palace for his entire campaign against her.
".... The Dahaka has come? How is this possible," The Prince questioned out loud to no one in particular. "... The beast need not chase me anymore for my fate has changed! Why does it persist!? I belong in the timeline now!" And while it was true that this was now the case, among the chilled desert air of the lone-standing platform both himself and Scarlet found themselves on, the Dahaka was staring with nothing short of the full intent to kill and destroy. That was, after all, its sole purpose for life.
"What manner of creature is that, Prince," Scarlet inquired, fear not evident on her face whatsoever despite the unbelief and mild worry practically sewn onto the Prince's features. "I had heard tale of other Gods manifesting a hunter of sorts to undo chronological anomalies within the timelines. This beast... the Dahaka... is what it is called?" One of her slender and fair hands, despite her courageous atmosphere, couldn't help itself from landing on the arm of the Prince that had bested her a few moments back in combat, if only for a little bit more reassurance to her defiant stance against fate.
Swallowing a lump of trepidation in his throat, the Prince shifted his eyes minutely to the side in order to gaze into Scarlet's own. He kept his whits about him, though, occasionally flicking his attention back onto the Dahaka whenever it made to hiss or roar lowly in growing aggression. "Yes. The Dahaka has turned hunting me through your halls into its job. It sought to remove me from the timeline as I persisted above fate, but since I have already changed my fate, I cannot comprehend what it's doing here."
Despite the lowered volume of the Prince's voice, the Dahaka tensed as a few black tendrils of smog and slime snaked from its herculean physique, its horned helmet-adorned head rattling somewhat as black ilk dripped from its body like tar. As if responding to that single mentioning of its name, the beast took an authoritative step forward before roaring out its intentions clearly.
It was here to hunt an anomaly in the timeline.
Gritting his teeth for a moment, the Prince recounted all the things he could have possibly done wrong in his journey to kill the Goddess of Time - to end Scarlet. But instead of one of them killing the other as instructed by fate - thus completing their fates - he had managed to talk Scarlet out of her hardheaded mentality that mortal combat resulting with her as the victor would change her fate. He had talked her out of completing her task. He had changed her fate and his own, but at the end of the day, it was he who had done it!
The Dahaka leaped off the platform from where it manifested in that moment, soaring towards them with another roar and preparing for another hunt well done.
Twas here that the Prince's eyes were opened to the truth of the situation. Drawing his Sword of Water and preparing for combat just as the Dahaka crashed onto and cracked the top of their own platform, he whispered the facts as plain as day from his lips.

Hey just me, back from the hospital doing some faving catchup as usual. But I wanted to say how much I admire this piece. The slight snarl on Scarlet's nose, the poise of the sword on her shoulder and how elegant and beautiful that dress is on her lithe frame.
Yes I know Zeus is suppose to be the focus but you know how I admire Scarlet :)
