~GENERAL INFO~
They are called Flint Island Bears, and their "scientific" name or whatnot is Densa Cute, or 'thick skin', due to the fatty layers on their body that can keep them warm in as low as -10 degree weather (much like seals). They are referred to as bears because in the mid 1300's sailors would pass the Flint islands, and the Densa would be at the shoreline watching the boats, and from a fair distance they looked a lot like bears. They were re-discovered in the 1700's and, upon the actions of an anthropologist, agreed to come to newly founded America (in this universe it's their species / anthros / and humans).
They are very hardy, do not have a specific diet (making them very adaptable), and seemed to have no form of government or hierarchy. They are generally kind and very intelligent, but that doesn't mean some aren't snappy or rude, just like anyone.
~ANATOMY~
As shown on the chart, they do NOT exceed 4'5". 4'5" is actually especially tall for them, most average around 3'9" or 3'11". They are as their name suggests chubby; they are NOT thin. Their sclera is gray, and the only eye colors known to them are BLACK or in rare cases BLUE. Their colors range from any shade of RED, BLUE, PURPLE, GREEN, or GRAY. The colors BLACK, YELLOW, ORANGE, WHITE, or BROWN do NOT exist in this species- it is unprecedented (aside from Hamilton, the brown/red Densa shown; his skin color is an anomaly!). They are one solid color, no patterns or designs. The exception to this is VITILIGO, which can occur!
Something unique about this species is their nose. Their nose is actually next to the opening of their ear. This is a tactic used much like how some species of water animals have folds to cover their nostrils when diving- early Densa relied on deep sea fishing, so being able to cover them to keep from water entering them was superb. Their ears are ROUND, not oval-shaped. They generally have 1 baby at a time, and they age faster than humans (2:1 in terms of year ratio). Surprisingly as they came to America their population never rose above 400,000. In the year 1999 a virus mutation actually almost ENTIRELY wiped out their species, leaving around 10,000 in total. They've been making a comeback since.
