I ... didn't build this out of Legos.
I didn't wan't to be "that guy", but here I am posting a picture of my new car anyway. Sorry. This is my third car (fourth if you count an old Chevy Citation with a rusted-out floor that my parents bought ostensibly for me, but I never ended up driving). The first two were a 1989 Hyundai Excel (1992-1999) and a 1996 Chevy Cavalier (1999-2009). This new Cobalt has the distinction of being the first vehicle where I'm the first owner, as well as the model year being the same number as the year I bought it, which makes it special to me. One thing I've found amazing during my car shopping process is how many electronic doo-dads come standard on new cars, even on the cheap models. For an example, my Cavalier (predecessor to the Cobalt) had a radio with no CD or even cassette player, but even a cheap Cobalt has a radio/CD/MP3/WMA player with a limited free trial for XM satellite radio and OnStar assistance service (we'll see if I hold on to those when they start charging for the services.)
Anyway, I'm very very very sorry for wasting your time.

Fun fact: The cobalt has a total of seven computers in it. One for the engine, one for the transmission (on auto trans), on in each door for the power windows, on for ABS, and one for traction/stability control.

dude, I've gone through 13 vehicles in fifteen years...i've never got one to last more than three years without some major componnt breaking down that was required to run the vehicle. and you're stretching tiny peies of Crapola out forever...boy, you must baby them to death (and you shoulda made some money selling them back to Hyundai and GM for reaserch purposes if you managed to stretch them THAT long)
Well, I try not to run the cars into the ground, but both previous cars had their share of things that needed fixing or replacing, like batteries, water pump, fuel pumps, and the like (the Hyundai was only running on three out of four cylinders at the end of its life). I guess you could say my earlier Chevy was babied a bit, as it only had about 94,000 miles on it despite being technically thirteen years old.
I have a 1995 Ford Mustang that I've had since 1995 and she still drives nice with over 150k miles. I had to replace the head gaskets at 100k due to a recall and other typical maintenance like alternators, brakes and waterpump (actually didn't need to replace it but I had to remove it when I did the head gaskets so I replaced it) and some sensors. Been a good car and it's been paid for since 2000.
The XM isn't too bad, it's about $12 something a month, I think? After you get used to it, you may have a hard time going back to regular radio. Even with the digital radio enabling a better transmission quality of my old favorite radio stations, I still find myself with XM on most of the time (and mp3 CDs on the rest of the time, lol)
I didn't expect to like my Cobalt LT when I first got it, but it's really grown on me. They're good little cars :)

XM: More like $13 (12.99) per month. They bill your credit card every three months.
I've had mine so long (Pioneer Inno) that I have Opie & Anthony's channel image burned into the LCD --it becomes visible when the unit's turned off :D. I need to replace it though--the internal antenna got messed up somehow and it only picks up the terrestrial repeaters.
