HERES A BRILLIANT IDEA
WHY NOT KEEP LILY THE COLORS (if not slightly tinted) THAT SHE USED TO HAVE!?!?
Okay, so key reason I was going though all those colors was to avoid Nintendo's copyrighting eyes. Although I do know there is a copyright law that can protect me. The way it goes (if I remember right. If anyone can find it, please share.) If a new character's design is atleast 20% different then the copyrighted character, then the owner can make a claim on the new character.
So that's why I am worried about bringing Lily into a whole new IP. Ether that, or Nintendo could yell out at me for "defacing" Pokemon. However, I only intend for Lily's design to remain closest to her Pokemon counterpart. Other characters such as Mark, Archie and Tommy will be completely different.
So, I'll list off the changes that Lily has compared to a Mightyena.
- Shaved off the back hair.
- Added underbelly.
- Different eye colors.
- Ears are more wolf-like.
- Fur styling is finer.
- Slightly blue tent base fur color.
- Slightly red tented hair fur color.
- Mightyena is Hyena based, while Lily is Wolf/Canine based.
It also be good to note that Lily's species is an original species line (Even though they are basicly canines.) with many other breeds and colors. Some of those colors I was showing off before would very much apply to other breeds.
So guys. What you think? Would Lily be safe to be called a true original IP character based on what I've shown here? If not, any change ideas to add to her design? I'm open to any more ideas!

Love it! The closer you keep her to Mightyena's original design, the better IMO *bit of a sucker for them, haha*.
Anyway, I'm hardly an expert on copyright law, but it's only a problem if Nintendo actually sees the infringement, which seems highly unlikely to me given the nature of the content in the game and the limited demographic you're targeting. I doubt you'd get C&D'd even if you sold the game the way it was in the demo.

She looks close enough to her original form that it isn't too big of an issue for me if the change was made for her, though as I said before you won't be affected by Nintendo' copyrights if you share the game with a small circle of friends like you have been doing. They really only get after those who are stupid enough to heavily promote their games to the point they get millions of views.
Okay, so you know how I'm making PvA into it's own IP? It doesn't seem like you, or anybody understands why I'm making all these changes. It's because I don't want just a small circle to see it. I want it on steam, I want to get some serious $ back for all the work I've put into, and I want as many people to enjoy the game as I can make it. I'm fallowing by Toby Fox's example. How he did fan hacks then went on to make Undertale. Granted, PvA may not be nowhere as huge a success as Undertale, but I'm not looking for that kind of huge success ether.
Ah, so you're making it a big game then... Alrighty, I can respect that as a reason for changing things around (like Freedom Planet did with Sonic). But where would that leave the vore? I don't think it would be banned on steam, but it would certainly give it some weird looks too.
Lilly is still adorable! I'd say she's far enough from Mightyena to be safe. "Evolution" doesnt even need to be in the game either, Her brother could just be a puppy
Heck, I've thought of this sort of stuff for my series too, I even have a few designs for Duke and Rigy if ever such a thing would happen to me.

To be honest I think that she looks a bit too different from the source material, though I hope that some don't change as much since I would hate to see them change, especially with the zangoose as I feel he would possibly would have to be scrapped which would make me lose some interest just because I would like to see a pokemon fan game with zangoose being a playable character.
But she does look cute and I will hold onto my hopes and see how this turns out.
Also maybe make her muzzle a little longer.

I'm not entirely sure if the copyright laws are the same between America and Australia, but generally in Australia you will run into trouble in terms of copyright only if a person of the general public who is familiar with a product can't tell the difference between the original and your work.
For example; if you put Lilly and a Mightyena side by side and showed someone who knows Pokemon the both of them, if they couldn't tell that Lilly wasn't a Mightyena you would be in trouble.
Its rather difficult to tell whether you would get in trouble with Lilly, but I believe you will only run into trouble if it is blatant copyright infringement. So changing the title and removing all references to Nintendo products from the characters and locations should keep you safe from copyright.
