im still elated after the spencer incident tbh

I have friends who tell me not to support punching Nazis or the nazis will punch back, and I'm all, "You really missed the point here." It wasn't the punching so much as the fact that the punch became a meme. That's their territory. We humiliated them on their own turf. Making something a meme dehumanizes it, normalizes it (I mean, Fedora Guy was the kid who played Puggsley Addams clowning around in a photoshoot), and makes the violence behind it not seem to matter. That was why this hit them hard - they're used to that working FOR them, not against them.

And also, it wasn't a sucker punch. Spencer and that guy had been arguing earlier, and that's what attracted the cameraman. Spencer had thought that guy had left. And bam! Schaaaa-denfreude, people taking pleasure in your pain.

Haha @ punch comment, that clip is a guilty and maybe sordid pleasure. It's been a psychic barrage, I can't stand out in the rain of breaking developments for long, but feel as if I have to keep my eyes on the road. Maybe I should just make art and love.

We all have to keep our eyes on the road, but there's plenty for all of us to do. If you can't march, volunteer bookkeeping efforts, organize the protests, make and distribute flyers, make food for them... look at what people do for strikers. <3 If you're white, too, then please march, police are a lot nicer to marches the more white people are in them.

But do keep love, stay safe, self-care, and everything else. We'll all need that.

Seems like good advice: Social integrity and solidarity in the face of any adversity. Nobody should be left in the dark, feeling alone; let everyone who believes in better worlds come together and build them, crowdsourced if need be.
