"So, this is a bit of an odd story. I wasn't always like this. Actually, I used to be a normal human woman, working a fairly low-end job since I needed to save up money for college.

"I know. 'So much for that future,' but there might be a chance so long as I keep my head down. A little more difficult, but how bad can a talking deer stand out when every week we see on the news these guys in brightly colored tights galavanting about and either saving the world or trying to take it over?

"Okay. Yeah. I'm not too convinced either. Anyways, you asked how I got to be this way, so I guess I should get back to the point. I'm Dana Hartman, and after high school, I had to look for work in order to pay for college. And well, Stellar Labs was looking for someone to do some cleaning, and I applied because I was interested in the sciences myself and thought it might look good on a resume in the future. It was a temp job, though, just a few months before I had to start looking again. I was diligent, I listened in when I could at what the scientists there were talking about. A lot of it was just as much Star Trek as it was actual science, though. You know how it is when you have proud geeks working together. Nerd Pride and all that great stuff.

"So, on the last day of that job, I was cleaning up in one of the labs when there was an accidental spill. A seemingly empty beaker got knocked off the table and I went to sweep it up. In gathering the broken glass, I got cut on one finger and quickly went to wash the cut, unaware of what was in there. The next day, I woke up looking like this, like some kind of cartoon deep woman. I was a lot taller than I used to be, too.

"It was a shock and, well, yeah, I was kinda frozen in place, staring at the mirror in shock until my dad came to snap me out of it and try to figure out what the hell happened. We had to go back to the lab for some testing, and the folks there basically found out that the spill in that lab was of a beaker full of these things called 'Quantum Nanites.' You'd think they'd have labelled it better, but we're all only human I suppose. After a few more labs, it seems that the nanites have bonded with my body and made me into some kind of being between the states of solid and energy, which apparently imbues me with the qualities of being a living cartoon character, as well as some energy projection, which basically means that I can somehow shoot lasers from my hands and also create hard light constructs and other stuff like that. It's pretty complex, but that's the layman's terms for it all. "

Origin: Altered Human.

Physical Status: Dana's nanite infusion has contverted her to a midpoint between matter and energy. While she is still able to interact like a physical being, many physical properties of her have been changed. After a number of tests to try and fix this, it has ultimately been determined that trying to return her to normal would result in her death. Her physical state can best be described as being a lot like a large, real life cartoon character.

Known Powers: Listed below.
* Photonic Energy Projection: Dana is capable of projecting blasts of light.
* Hard Light Constructs: Dana has shown the ability to create temporary objects seemingly made from what can best be described as hard light. The effect is not unlike a cartoon character's bag of tricks.
* Dazzle: Creating a flash of light to blind targets or to light up the environment around her.
* Pliable Body: While not to the extent of a typical stretchy metahuman, Dana's physical form is pliable. She can stretch a few meters, compress, flatten, and otherwise be physically manipulated like a cartoon character. This includes the detachment and reattachment of body parts, though this has no apparent use.
* Flight: Dana is capable of moving through the air with this standard movement power.
* Enhanced Recovery: Physical damage is fleeting. Though untested, it has been theorized that even fatal levels of damage might be survivable.
* Enhanced Hearing: Ears like a deer's.

Known Weaknesses: Nothing specifically related to the mechanics of her powers. However, she is known to freeze like a deer in the headlights when startled. Her unusual appearance also serves to make her stick out like a sore thumb.
