[Colored SKETCH] "Umbreon Wall Decal!"
And here's another quick sketch with colors I kinda put together that was based on an idea that I really liked, making a wall decal out of your Pokemon! Now you can add that extra flare to your bedroom with a living Pokemon decal! All you need is a roller and a Pokemon soft enough to be spread across the wall like dough!
(The sketch is preeetty rough, so I'll just add this to my Scraps for now.)
(EDIT: On second thought, it looks decent enough, so I'll move it to my gallery until I feel like it should be in scraps.)
Still I'm really liking this idea so much that I'll probably end up drawing a more detailed sequence or comic on this soon. ^_^)

Thanks, I'm really glad you liked it! And that's exactly what I wanted for the second panel, like the Umbreon would be soft and rubbery enough to stick to the wall, but if you wanted to move them you could very easily peel them off without much trouble and just stick them up someplace else. XD
And thanks, I do pride myself on drawing nice paws as well! ^_^

Agreed! And he'll be hanging around for a while, maybe until he's needed as a trade-in for his owner's active party of Pokemon...and then the Pokemon he replaces will just take his place. XD That would actually be an fun idea for when you have a bunch of Pokemon you're not actively using for battles, just make them into wall decorations until you need them, then just peel them off!
Heh, gotta decorate them all! Just collect all the Pokemon on your wall, and your house will be the envy of Pokemon Trainers and home owners the world over! Who else could say that they have an massive room entirely dedicated to living decals of every fire type Pokemon in existence! Conveniently, that room also happens to be the year-round sauna room. ^_^
Hehe, agreed! And yeah, I can imagine that it'd probably take a few friends, and a couple of LARGE rollers to make bigger Pokemon like Charazard or Snorlax into a wall decal. Still, Snorlax would probably be best as a floor decal anyways, just get them while they're sleeping. XD
With that in mind, maybe if you had a Jigglypuff to make the other Pokemon go to sleep while you're rolling them?

I don't know what it is exactly, but somehow this is one of the most successful flatting pictures I've seen. Not just from you, but ever... Hmmm maybe 3 dimensionality of him on the 2nd page? Even though he's so flat. Or the way the creases from being pulled move though his body parts that otherwise wouldn't all be together. Or the blending of some of his layers like his hind paws into his haunches into his belly. It gives a sort of topographical map illusion. Or maybe it's just the scenario. Like this is a great idea smushing into the wall for decoration. It's sort of like an inanimate TF as well. Or really I guess it's one of the few time flattening seems to have a reason. Like an end goal accomplished by the act instead of just being gratuitous.
Thank you, I'm glad you really like this one. To be honest, I was mainly testing out a shading and lighting technique that was supposed to give the flattened Umbreon a soft, rubbery feel to him, to justify the idea of being able to stick him to a wall without much effort and then easily peel him off again whenever you wanted. It's an adorable idea that I got seeing one of those Fathead wall decal commercials, and it really sounded awesome because, like you said, it gives a purpose and sense of continued use for the character being flattened. I really want to expand on this in a future sequence as well.
Also, the body parts overlapping and being shifted and distorted together as one section was an idea I really wanted to expand on from a previous Umbreon flattening sequence, and the topographical illusion was part of that expansion. Keeping a bit of thickness gives the Umbreon's flattening a more practical feel, like his mass is being spread out into that shape rather than him being completely flattened while maintaining his original proportions in the usual but somewhat unrealistic cartoonish manner. I still enjoy doing both types of flattening, but the spread-style of flattening is much more interesting to practice with using scenarios like this.

I was going to mention your "How to Press Your Umbreon...?" One of my other all time faves. This being a single stage TF pic it makes sense he's stuck somewhere half way, I do like the idea that as he is flattened thinner and thinner all the different thickness and levels bleed together and become indistinguishable but depending on the level of "sqush" the effect will be more or less pronounced as you describe and illustrated.
