tesral answered my call for commissions during my lull at work. Wanting another 'Red Shetland through History', this time wanting a Macedonian Hoplite.

No, not a smurf hat, They actually wore those funny shaped helmets in the 4th Century BCE. Plus carried a sarrisa, 18 feet long that was double headed, but carried into battle in two pieces and joined together to form a phalanx against their foes.

The Greek Army still wears someone very similar for their dress uniform. You don't mess with a man that will wear a tutu in public and be proud of it.

I do love Ancient Greek warfare. The pike is a sarissa, if I'm not too mistaken, and the helmet is of an Anatolian design, I believe. She looks like she's trying to figure out how her troops will be able to outflank the Persian army.

Exactly.

In Roman times, such caps were given to freed slaves, as a token of their emancipation. Over 1700 years later, they reappeared as a symbol in America, as the "Liberty cap". 7@=e

She's a phalangite, not a hoplite, only equipped to fight within the phalanx. Good job on the equipment. Hoplites in Alexander's army tended to fight as hypaspists, men who moved quickly to cover gaps in the line.
