So, I've been hard at work creating my first fursuit. Technically this is my second head, though the rest of the pieces are a first for me. I've been working on this one since the end of FC 09, which was about the end of January. I'm not yet done with the suit, I still need to complete the body piece, though I certainly have enough to partial. Which I took full liberty of at FCN 09. ^^
Here are some snippet videos I found of me running around in it...

I really enjoy the process and the art form of doing this, so once I get my own suit done I will be looking into the details of doing commissions and such. For now I want to get a full suit done of my own first. :P

*looks at your page* Oh... yeah I've seen your page several times, I really like what you have going on. I remember looking at the arm you did and the detail that went into it. I must keep up to date to see what your suit comes out like, I'm sure it will be kick ass. ^^
Yeah tell me about it... When I started on the suit I was really scared that I was going to end up doing the same thing. Really, I just tried to take my time and make sure things where perfect to the best of my abilities. I'm really happy with the results, though there is much learning to still be done. ^^
I like how everyone else in the world posted before me xD
But that's okay!
You already know how much I love your suit.
It's so amazing that you did all this by yourself.
You need to open up commissions so I can make you make stuff for me xD
You do amazing work Kiro! Keep it up.

For the moving jaw I used a slightly modified version of the the Matricies tutorial. You can find that at this link below. It's works by sewing elastic straps into the balaclava at key positions so that the jaw of the suit fits up snugly against your face. It took me a while to adjust it right, but eventually it worked.

My first head was plastic mesh, but after using a balaclava I don't think I will ever go back.
You can find balaclavas at most large sporting stores, I found mine at a REI, which I'm not sure if they have them out here. If nothing else I'm sure you can find them online for quite cheap.
As far as the LA fashion district, I'm not sure if you can get stuff from there remotely. I got it since I was out there at the time, and since then I've just been using the fur that I've had. I don't see why not to look into it, though it may be less headache just to find a large cooperate fur dealer if your getting stuff online. When I do look into fur supplies for myself I'll sure to message you with what I find.

Aaah. I did mine wrong the first time, so I was a little uneasy going back to try it again. :C
Hmm.
is selling balaclavas, but they are for use UNDER the head. I asked him how much one would cost with holes cut for a balaclava based head. :/
I see. I tried looking for good furs online, and I found a style I liked. PUNKY MUPPET off of CScrafts in orange, black, white, and blue. THEY WERE AMAZING. I had ordered a free swatch, and they told me how much a yard would cost of the Punky Muppet fur... $24.95 a yard.... :C
My good friend
said he might take me fur shopping sometime this weekend if we arent finishing up my husky suit. The WIP head is in my Scrap gallery.
Hope we can dish out tips and secret tricks whenever we meet up. :) Maybe doodle a thing'r too!

Actually, I had a friend that made her own balaclava for her head and it worked out fine. She just got some stretchy fabric and sewed it to the correct shape. So that is another option for you.
Ouch... $24 a yard is expensive >.< Even when I was out in LA I think I payed about $16 a yard for what I got. Well when you go out shopping tell me if you find anything interesting, I'm going to need to do the same myself at some point soon.
Yeah, we should get together and craft/art it up some time. I actually tend to be more productive when around others. :P

I guess i might try that. *casts a glance at her under-used stretchy black dress* hmmmm. ;3
Indeed. I got some nice husky-like fur for a good price at the JoAnns fabrics in Novi. :) but i dunno how to make the tail. Might do what you did, only with a plastic canvas, then foam core. :)
Totally. I can note you my cell number if you need it. :)

*giggles* Thank yah for the complement. Hey we all have to start somewhere, I would suggest looking at tutorials that people have put online, as well as the fursuit live journal community. Those resources don't answer all questions, but they are a good enough starting point to begin. Also feel free to ask if you have any specific questions, I don't mind to share.
oh thank you that is so swet of you ^^ it hard when ya full time ta do anything like this musta be hard for ya ^^ i must say i absoultely adore the squeker!!!! lol oh on a second note hoe much would you charge for a partial if you did do one ^^ just curious. and i was wondering if i could possible do some fan art cause ya adorable ^^
Partials I currently have base quoted at $650. Though that all depends on the suit, and my prices may change when I open up more slots. If you are interested send an e-mail to influxstudios@gmail.com, I will be sure to e-mail you back when slots open up.
As for fan art, absolutely, I love to see other people draw flux *squeeks happily and rolls around*
