This started out as just another trace-and-colour job, but the end result is as much my work as it is the original artist's.
Spunky drew the original sketch for AllyCat and Playwright did an initial colouring of it. I didn't like the results and tried my own hand at the task.
This image took me three days to do. Half of that was tracing the sketch (and figuring out what the heck some of the lines were for), most of the remaining time was shading, and just a few hours were spent tinkering with the background.
While the original sketch did include a shading guide, it was, however, somewhat inaccurate, so shading some areas was, pardon the pun, a pain in the arse.
There's a reason for my choice of background. I designed the background so the viewer pays more attention to the face instead of the arse. Without the perspective in the background, the arse is annoyingly distracting.
I also made a couple of minor corrections to the original linework, the biggest being redrawing the pocket that's half-hidden by the tail to be perspective-correct. I also expanded on some of the shading and extrapolated some of the legs.
All my work was done in Paint Shop Pro 7 by mouse.
