Ralphie Ironglove, (as he’s known in the ring anyway) may not look a very fearsome or strong opponent upon first site, but he didn’t earn the surname ‘Ironglove’ by being a pushover. Steadfast, quick on his feet, with a wicked upper cut that’s loosed more then one tooth, Ralph is easily one of the most talented boxers I can think of. Though he’s a relentless fighting machine in the ring, outside, he’s about a regular Joe as you can find out there in the wide world. Kind, compassionate, patient and enduring, Ralph has had a very fortunate life that has taught him that, just because he fights for a living, doesn’t mean he has to carry that aggression around with him everywhere he goes. Having gotten into the sport at a young age he received quite a bit of encouragement from both family and friends, and because of that he’s become not only a talented fighter, but a good hearted fox as well.
I had wanted to do a boxing picture since…well, since I first came to FA, and even before that! I’ve done quite a few actually and never finished them, but when I drew this one I knew I had to ink and color him…and here he is, in gloves and those super slick Boxing trunks I love.

I have got to stop deleting everything in my inbox so quickly. I had almost missed this one. A boxing furry looks fantastic in your style. Not only is he not overly muscular but he looks correctly proportioned. Boxers have to be pretty fit to be pretty competitive in the ring. It looks like you spent a lot of time on this getting everything just right.
Oh and the background you've given him is very good. Not overly fantastical or terribly ordinary but something that has a good mix. A good little (long) background that adds to the background. Why don't other artists on FA take the time to write even a few sentences description to say who these people are or what their story is? It adds a lot of depth and dimension to a two dimensional visual representation of someone.
I hardly comment anymore and you know...that's mostly laziness but I do like a lot of your postings precisely because not only are they well drawn but you take the time to give them a little something extra to make them seem more "real".
My favorite of late has been this one. "The Adventures of Azrag Boneclaw" And for the past few weeks I've been trying something clever and in depth to say but nothing ever comes up.

Wow, well let me begin by thanking you for that really long and thoughtful comment, I really enjoy it when anybody comments on a good note but I scarcely get ones as thorough as this so...I really do appreciate that. Especially as lately for the past few months, I've been feeling a bit low about my work...doesn't seem to get the kind of responses I see a lot of other people getting lately and I'd been feeling down about it. I still do a little to be honest, but this helped a lot to alleviate that some, so thank you.
I did spend a bit of time perfecting him *chuckles* slimmer muscular builds isn't really something I'm known for, so I had to do a bit of reference sifting. Kind of something I'm being more aware of lately, trying to do slimmer, more realistic builds on some characters while at the same time continuing my trademark stuff. Plus I just feel like I need a change of pace, one reason I feel I don't get the kind of responses to my art is because there's not alot of variety as far as body structure goes.
The background for him was admittedly done in a bit of haste, I get to the point with some pictures that if I haven't written something up BEFORE I finish the picture, I end up slapping something together quickly just so I can post him. The idea for Azrags back story came several days before I even started on the picture, but I already knew I was going to spend that week finishing him so I typed it up. Basically for Ralph I was thinking...'too many characters have tragic backgrounds, I want this guy to have had a happy life'
It's okay if you don't comment much though, I'm the same way to be honest...hardly anything really motivates me to comment, and those pics that do usually already have a billion comments I'm like...meh, they won't even read it or see it and they already have a million, one won't be missed. But I do appreciate this alot, it's always good to hear from you...I was actually worried you might've been upset with me as it'd been awhile since I heard from you. I'm glad that isn't the case
thanks again!

This looks like a completely new fur shading/coloring technique for you; am I mistaken? Either way, I really love how you did the highlights of the different tones to the fox's fur. It brings out depth and almost "motion" in his layers. I really think this is one of your better pieces!
Excellent work!
