While on their travels to fight the fire lord, the guys went into town to buy food while the girls stayed behind to keep en eye on camp, while looking up at the night sky Katara noticed one star kept getting bigger and bigger until suddenly it was whizzing over them, crashing a few miles away, the tremor it caused from impact briefly let Toph see the entire country side with her Sonic sense, it was such a instant rush made her dizzy and nearly pass out, Katara tended to her friend but Suki wanted to check it out and scouted on ahead of them.

Hours go by and Toph is feeling better but they haven't heard from Suki the whole time and decide to go check it out for themselves, with Appa with the guys, Toph uses her Earth bending to them their faster as they arrive at the spot near a large field of cabbages, there they find a strange ornate orb embedded into the ground where all the dirt seems to have gone soft and collected up around the spot leaving no crater despite falling from the sky, Toph looks over the orb while Katara looks around for Suki and gets a weird feeling as something doesn't feel right, Katara notices one cabbage that's not with the field of other vegetables, she picks it up and is startled when she notices it has a face! or rather a painted on face, which the closer Katara looks the more she realizes its the same kind of face paint Suki was wearing, "perhaps she's pulling some kind of childish prank? " ponders Katara aloud, but doesn't get a response out of Toph behind her, Katara examines the Cabbage more when a large cloud is now covering the moon and will be darkening everything for a few minutes but that's when she notices something shocking, the entire ground around them is glowing Green!

Katara turns to her blind friend to tell her what she's unable to see only to be disgusted by the sight of Toph on her knee's eating the dirt, "Toph!! what are you doing?! I know rocks and dirt are your thing, but this stuff is glowing green! Stop eating it!!" but Toph just turned to her and said " I can't help myself! I just got the sudden urge to start eating this stuff and its AMAZING!! you gotta try some!! " as disgusted as Katara was by the proposal, some strange urge inside her wanted her to join in, against her better judgement to go get help, Katara sheepishly grabbed a handful and put a little bit in her mouth, swallowed it, and immediately hated it....but she couldn't help herself as she grabbed a bit more and ate it, despite finding the taste awful she kept eating it in disgust, unlike Toph who was savoring every bite as she ate whole handfuls and just loved the taste, Toph couldn't wrap her head around it, she never liked the taste of dirt or mud before, but whatever was making it glow like this made it the tastiest thing she'd ever eaten and as Katara kept eating, it gradually started tasting good to her, despite still being disgusted that she was eating dirt, the two were hooked and were enjoying themselves, but things were going to get really weird.

An hour goes by but time feels irrelevant as they keep chomping down, but with the return of the light of the moon Katara notices something strange about toph's skin, it looks sorta green, Katara tries to get up and examine her friend, but she just cant fight the urge to stop eating, and as they continue onward Katara gradually notices her own skin is starting to turn orange, her mild enjoyment of their fest was now set with panic and fear as she couldn't ignore the fact something was happening to them, she turns to Toph and pleads " Toph!! something is happening to us! we need to stop and go see a doctor now!! " but Toph stops eating momentarily to laugh "hahaha, your kidding right? i've never felt more healthy in my entire life!! and goes right back to eating while as much as Katara tries to resist, she continues too.

Another hour goes by as they continue their feast, neither girl has ever eaten this much of anything before and despite ingesting a dozen pounds of dirt between the two, neither feels bloated or full, but their bodies tell a different story as Toph stops for a moment, stands up and starts taking her clothes off much to Katara's shock " TOPH!! what are you doing!! put your clothes back on you'll catch a cold from this night air!! " but Toph ignores her friends nagging and strips naked only to clearly reveal what has become of her as the full moon and the glowing orbs light reveals her skin as turned pale green and her hair has become thick leafs, even some have sprouted from her shoulder, as Toph stretches herself out she notices a odd protrusion coming out of her behind as her fingers and toes have merged together and flattened at the end, Katara groan's in discomfort as she finally looks at orange three fingered hands which Toph notices " Oh whats wrong, were both girls here, its not like I dont have anything you've never seen before" but that's when Katara levels with her friend "No, your wrong about both, Toph, you're body and mine have changed, were becoming vegetables!! im turning into a carrot and your turning into broccoli, were not even human anymore!!".

Katara sobs softly to herself in between bites as Toph starts running her thick fingers across her body and smiles " This is really cool!! Hey Katara, what kind of vegetable is broccoli again?? " she asks in a eager tone which is met by Katara's more distraught response " How can you be so calm and upbeat about all this?!?! don't you get it?!?! were losing our humanity the more we eat this dirt, that cabbage over their, that has to be whats left of Suki, you wanna end up like that?! " Toph gives a ponderous look and runs her fingers across her body some more and says " Sure, I really like this, a simple life kinda sounds good, now quit complaining and join me, I bet you'll feel better once you ditch those confining human clothes" Katara felt like she was talking to a brick wall, Toph wouldn't listen to reason....but her suggestion to remove her clothes did give her a strange feeling of relax as she removed her robes and let the moonlight glisten off her hard carrot skin as a strong wind picked up and blew both their clothes away, as Toph happily proclaims "good riddance, I bet you feel alot better without those human clothes holding you back".

Katara did calm down but as she continued to eat her dirt she still tried to reason with her friend "Toph what is wrong with you? stop saying things like that, we are still human deep down" but Toph just chuckled and said "Nah!, you said it yourself earlier, were not human anymore and I'm likin it, infact dont call me Toph anymore, Vegetables don't have names, isn't that right carrot?" as she casually discarded her humanity, opting to be a "It" rather then a "she" but Katara was still a hard sell, "Don't call me that!! Im a proud water bender who will help Ang save the world, not a piece of produce comfortably sitting in soil growing in the warm sun!" but without realizing it, Katara was slowly cozying up to bidding farewell to her humanity. to be continued
