And 43 layers later, I had a picture. First fursona pic ever for Anahi. Also ended up being freakin huge (4800x2400. I never usually work that large) and towards the end, my cursor was lagging from the strain. This has been considerably downsized to meet her screen rez (everyone loves wallpapers!).

Make a little love,

On a more serious subject; I absolutely love the detailing put into her clothes. I especially love the jewelry draped over her forehead. Gives it a more gypsy-dancer feel.

Phosphorus and a purple LED light.
I was going to make some facetious chortle about 43 layers being childs' play, since I work with dozens to hundreds of full or partial layers at a time, but I don't tend to work in such print-friendly resolutions and my results rarely look anywhere near this good. Is the background a quick render or a quick sketch under that blur?

Holy flying shit. Tats fecking amazing man... my fav so far of your work. apart from maybe floatin.
I've been pratising a bit of editing on photo studio and i've done this, and one of your old ones. Rock on or get out i think. Are you intrested in having a look, i'd like to hear your opinion. I'll warn you, it is my first time though.

I was loving this until I saw that her eyebrow and eye are visible through her hair. sorry, just a major peeve with me. It's beautifully drawn, and I want to look at her face, but when I do all the joy and wonder just turns to

So just becuase you edited it to your liking you think it's better? honestly you got some nerve to mess with someone's art, and without so much as asking, especially a piece as beautiful as this one. If it's drawn as the original artist wishes it to be, then there's nothing wrong with it. You have no right to make changes to a picture after an artist has put great care an effort into it.
Yes, I do think it's better. (Hurray for opinions!) It complies with laws of physics as described everywhere else in the image. The hair is not transparent for any other feature, nor is any other material in the image randomly opaque. Nerve? *shrug* Lack of social etiquette, sure. I haven't seen a response yet from the original artist (and don't really care anymore tbh) but for all I know it WAS a layer ordering mistake while flattening the image, and not a conscious decision to disrupt the suspension of disbelief created by otherwise carefully detailed work.
As for rights, here's the fair use guidelines:
1. the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
The purpose is to illustrate that which my obviously limited linguistic skills might fail to convey. No intent for profit, or even distribution beyond this thread was ever considered.
2. the nature of the copyrighted work;
A commissioned item already paid for and delivered, then subsequently put in a public forum.
3. the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole;
The cropped portion of the image represents less than 1% of the original, which is only as much of the original image as was nessecary for my intended use. (elaboration of my gripe)
4. the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
Presumably, the commissioner OKed the image before taking final delivery, which means whatever I have to say about it has no bearing on value or market of the work. The only possible "damage" this could do monetarily is maybe discourage print sales, though by your estimate, I'm the only one to notice and/or care, so that argument would be counter to the assertion that my opinion is worthless.

I'll concede to that point. That if Strype says "gee thanks, I didn't think about it that way but it does look better that way" there is no grounds for my complaint.
My biggest concern is the fact you felt inclined to 'fix' something that is a long-standing artistic flair commonly used in anime/manga, but has a smattering of artists who use it in their own styles. That the laws of physics have to apparently be followed in an image of a coldfire-wielding anthro snow leopard.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1271956/ and http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1197818/ come to mind, also done by Strype.
I know I'm probably dragging this on too long. This will be my last comment on the subject unless asked in private message about it. I got involved because Anahi, the owner of the intellectual rights to the character Amaru, never once complained about this during the whole developmental process from sketch to finished work. I've said my peace.

you make it sound like that one tiny detail ruined the whole image for you. Where, judging by the other comments here, no one else seems to have really noticed, or cared. That's cool, we're entitled to our opinions...
But altering the image, even a bit of it, without asking for the permission of the artist or the owner of the character first is just plain rude. I don't know if you were intentionally trying to incite drama, or you honestly thought that no one would care that you took creative liberties with someone elses intellectual and artistic property. I for one would be happy to hear that this icon got deleted.

Ruined the whole image? no. But everything else is carefully detailed, and this seems like an error in layer ordering when flattening the image or something. And since I've seen it, it's the only part of the image my eye is drawn to now.
Whether it was rude or not I don't really know, or care. I don't really see how my original post could be perceived as "inciting drama", but whatever. The icon I made to illustrate my point, I'm not using it, and haven't posted it in any gallery. The only link I've made to it is here in this thread.
You would like to see the file taken down? Ok. as soon as you reply to everyone in this thread using an icon that doesn't use intellectual property they have permission for, reprimanding them in turn for their lack of morality and poor judgment, I'll take down the file. Deal?

Okay, I honestly have no problem that this was done, the only thing that bothered me is that the person, Blu, used the wrong name for the picture, the Character is Amaru, Anahi is my user name... I like Strype style of art, and it's tha way I want my Ama (amaru) to look like. I appreciate that there are those of the opinion that it could have been done a little different, if I had wanted that I would have gone to a different artist of pointed it out during the planning stages of this piece. As it stands Amaru is © to me and I would have liked to have gotten a note asking if is was okay just as a matter of principal and good taste. I would prefer that the icon not be around *shrugs* but that's just me.
In Blu's case, he didn't know. I was talking to him earlier about it, he said he named the picture so that he would know what the picture was about, not nessecarily about the characters. He never intended the picture to go into distribution.
Besides, misnamed filenames are done all the time. At least your character wasn't misnamed in a comic cameo you paid for *sigh*

Referring to the White fire works thing depends on what kinda your making
Ammonium Chloride= White smoke
white flame - magnesium or aluminum barium oxide, BaO have also been told Titanium works to
a more silver one will be burning aluminum, titanium, or magnesium powder or flakes
you can buy all this at http://www.skylighter.com/

Impressive work:3
I dunno about white fire, I suppose if you could get a flame extremely hot at like 10k+ degrees
I've made blue/green fire using copper bundles though...
There are alot of different alloys and metals that will change the color of flame:3
As for the violet glow ice, you'd need some type of biolumenescent material that you could mix with the water and freeze:3
they can be made (genetically engineered) but the only ones that I know of only fluoresce under ultra violet light. Plus the fact that access to them is hard to get, and also highly expensive.

stunning, captivating, alluring, marvelous, and downright amazing...
i would sell my soul to get a commission from you...do you accept souls? :P
i absolutely love the effects in this image and the beautiful pose. it definitely captures her essence and the flow of her body through the display of power she holds.
again, beautiful work...i would love to critique this further but all the words in the world wouldnt be enough.
