Midwest Furfest in 2002 was my first real convention I ever went to, and also the most enjoyable. While I was there, I got a badge from one of my favourite artists, Jessica Willard, which as simple as it is I treasure to this day, it still sits by my current computer with my very few other badges.
My convention-going came and went, went to several MFF's and some AC's over the years, but I don't really go to conventions any longer, haven't been to one in years. There's some fond memories though. Conventions were fun back in the day, but they /all/ got way too big along with the community, and in general I'd rather hang out with a few friends at home than wander halls lost in thousands of people. =P

Correction: I /used/ to go to MFF. From about 2002-2006. It was only about 40 minutes away when I lived in Milwaukee.
But...I live 2500 miles away from there now, and generally don't go to conventions. Also MFF got way too large for me to enjoy, and is no longer at the hotel where I made too many memories to appreciate it in a different hotel. =) It's a very different place (the whole convention itself) than it was 2002.
