*Old Work*
he second installment in my trio of dragon "friends", I guess you could call them. I actually had most of her design figured out a few years ago, complete with the colors, wings, and semiaquatic nature.
Meri is a Dual-Finned Water Dragon, a name derived from the split fins at her tail. Unlike most dragons, Meri can't truly fly. Her short wings are only capable of gliding, albeit some of the most remarkable gliding seen in the animal world. This is a small defense for escaping danger on land. These dragons prefer water over land if given the choice. This is where those short wings really show their power, propelling the dragon through the water at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour! If the power of the tail is added, an extra 5-10 miles can be added to that top speed, depending on the dragon and the water conditions. The brilliant scale color that trademarks water dragons, while more effective for camouflage in cleaner, clearer water, still doesn't give them away in darker water. The scales are capable of reflecting surrounding light to blend into the habitat around the dragon.
As an individual, Meri is a very cheerful and optimistic dragon. Her personality is often compared to that of a dog: very loving, affectionate, playful, and always eager to please. This is also the best way to train such dragons like one would a dog (plenty of love and attention will make water dragons your best friends). Meri can't stand to see others in negative moods for any reason. She'll go to great lengths to make you laugh, smile, or just feel wanted if she feels like you're really unhappy about something. She shows this more around Angeloe (especially when he was younger) as he tended to sulk for hours whenever his pride was hurt.
In relation to Angeloe, Meri acts as the motherly/concerned type of friend who's responsible for almost every instance that Angeloe escaped trouble due to his rash behavior. Her playful nature also allowed her to keep up with Angeloe for games of play-fights and tag (which was very useful in tiring him out).
I guess that's it for now. I might expand in later entries, but for now, I think you get the point.
