Finally! The last of my dragon trio. I didn't actually have a design planned for this one, all I knew was that I wanted a more earthy aesthetic. This will work just fine.

Gri'zeir is a Mountain Colossus dragon, named so because they are frequently found around large hills and mountains. They're not the largest of dragons, but their thick and stocky build, along with their thick scales, makes them pretty intimidating. Speaking of thick scales, Colossus dragons have the thickest hide in the dragon world. This natural armor protects them from jagged stones and the cooler temperatures of their subterranean lairs. They dig tunnels in mountains, hills and plateaus with the help of thick claws and numerous bony protrusions on the nose and joints. These beasts are also the only known land dragons to actually have gills! Located behind the crest of horns, it helps the dragon breathe regularly without getting dirt and debris lodged in the way. Their wings have become nearly useless, but are used in defense to appear larger. When partnered with humans, Mountain Colossus dragons are often used as escorts or guards. A superb sense of sight and smell allows them to see enemies up to 120 yards away and smell them up to four miles away.
Gri'zier himself is rather uptight and hard-working. He takes his position more seriously than most dragons at first, which has isolated him from most of his comrades. One day, when he fell into the local pond and nearly drowned, young Meri saved him (he's been a bit paranoid of deep water ever since). They formed a quick friendship soon after. Gri'zier, or Griz for short, only became friends with Angeloe because he was also Meri's friend. Their relationship is often tested, however, because of their differing dispositions: Griz is often frustrated by Angeloe's lack of responsibility and rash behavior. Most of the time he only puts up with him because Meri wants him to. He enjoys the simple things in life like quiet nights and sunbathing. Despite this, Gri'zier is the kind of dragon who would do anything for his allies and not ask anything in return. Simply helping others gives him great pride. He's not as unpleasant as he appears, but often gets caught up in his duties. This devotion has turned in his favor, however, as he has gained the position of Pack Leader for the Royal Escorts.
