What I like about the '69 Live version is the combination of beauty and roughness. The lack of outright sweetness is part of that. Makes it more honest. May have been Lou's favorite cover of it, but it is still a cover. I gotta go for the originals. In fact, I think about the only cover of anything I like better than the original is The Beatles playing Twist and Shout.
