Broad-winged hawks are extraordinary raptors who migrate thousands of miles every year. In late summer, they start their journey from the northeastern United States down to Central and South America. Sadly, much of its winter habitat is disappearing, so when these small hawks arrive, often they have nowhere to stay. Those lucky enough to still have their winter migration grounds then start their flight back up to their spring nesting territory early in the year.
