Richard and Melody at a political protest for shifter's rights.
I felt like a protest picture, but didn't want to get too real-political so you get this instead.

I had an idea for a story setting in which weres existed and were known. Their photo ID had to have two pictures, their human and were picture. I was planning on having the story follow the first werewolf in the Senate. He still has to change on nights of the full moon, and since he was known as a "No" vote on some bill, the Majority Leader scheduled the vote for the full moon just to try and keep him from showing up. He showed up, a big old werewolf in a business suit. He can't really talk, but he still could cast his vote, and give the jerk ML a bit of a growl as he walked past.

just saying it out of concern though cause I had seen it all go south on things like this in the comments section. :( trust me I seen all of it there. :(
not trying to be anything other then just saying the concerns that it has a strong chance that everything that can go wrong will go wrong.

if the cercomestances were different man then it would not be there but sadlly with the situation as it is now. it would ineveitblly go there.
I to would like to comment on it for fun but sadly with this climate in our lives it was going to end up there regardless. and besides seeing something like this for art anyhow will get that type of comment. unavoidable there and if not I then someone else will do it inevitably. things like this, the bullying one done by soccerlance are things that must be take seriously regardless if it was made for fun. if that rained on the parade of everyone then sorry for it but it had to be done.

the left are the ones making all of the noise now that is in the news, conservatives are now back to doing there daily lives of living and working quite for now but active in silence. the left is on the news now and there actions to get them on there is what I am talking about there actions.
Copy-paste is not my way of doing things. Not in these replies, at least.
Let me speak for the opposing side. You demand change, shifters? We can make the change you want, but your protests won't prove anything. You say you're not beasts. Question: have you seen yourself in the mirror? Do you know why people are afraid of you? Claws, fangs, talons, sharp beaks — do these words give you a hint?
I'm sure that «human» is a state of mind rather than physical form. I can't say that this state of mind isn't affected by the physical form, however. I want to point at your problem, Shifters: you're not human and you're a mystery.
Impact of the form might get overlooked, but we can't deny it. I have an ability to empathize other humans because I'm a human myself. But can I be sure that you keep this ability in your shifted form? Can I be sure that you do not posess any danger to me or to others of my kind? Sadly, no, I can't. I do not percieve you as humans, I percieve you as a danger. If I was ordered to shoot one of you, I would carry the order without a second thought, I might have some doubt in general situation, but some actions are unforgiveable and if I was told about them or saw them myself, them all doubts would fade.
But let's assume you're peaceful demonstrators and peaceful shifters, as are your friends and majority of you. Do you know how much renegade shifters it would take to put entire population of the US into state of shock and fright? Less than 1% of you, shifters. There will definetly be human-hating souls that would hunt down innocent citizens and terrorize entire cities. I guess that even 0.5% of these poor lost souls will be enough to destroy public opinion about your species.
Don't think that politiciants have a nice time during this social disruption. Your protests force the government to take decisions faster and these decisions might not be the best. I don't want to ruin your hopes, but, as I think, government won't be your ally in your fight nor it will listen to you. US and other countries have two paths to choose from: liberal to shifters and restrictive for shifters. Both of these options will probably lead to civil war, but the second will have more supporters and if they won't get what they want through democracy, they will get it through violence. The sanest and the safest way is to simply wait. Wait for what? For science!
You're a mystery and that's what scares people. Meanwhile, it also intrigues scientists. Try to become more open, participate in research. The more data you give to the researchers the less mysterious you become. If people will get more or less full list of answers to the questions they asked themselves constantly, then they might change their opinions. Some people, of course, won't, but the majority should. You need to prove that there is nothing (or something) to worry about and there is no better way than through the Word of Science.
I'm sorry if grammatical mistakes make it hard to read my replies.

We do demand change. Our protests will prove we exist and we will not be silenced. What we look like is irrelevant; it is not a defense to kill or discriminate against someone for what they look like, as established in many prior court cases and legal battles.
We definitely are a mystery, but we retain the ability to empathize with humans when shifted. It's part of how we can even change back, honestly. We can't prove we're no threat, because we can't prove a negative.
As a soldier, you cannot follow orders you know to be unlawful or immoral, as established at the Nuremburg trials and in the Geneva Conventions. Were you to do so anyways, you might find yourself in much trouble afterwards.
Blaming the majority for the actions of the minority is wrong, and none of us can terrorize "entire cities" on our lonesome. We're human and fleshy as you are, and respond to physical abuse in mostly the same fashion. However, if you wish to argue that a small minority should affect the opinion of the majority, I will now hold you personally responsible for any action committed by any human, anywhere on the planet. How many human-on-human murders occur daily? Wars? Thefts?
Our entire point of protesting is to make the politicians HAVE to make these decisions. They may not be the best, but by forcing them to ante into the game, we are able to then work on improving it later, rather than letting them kick the can down the road indefinitely. There aren't enough of us to cause a civil war.
As for participating in science, you'll find that we'll be rather amenable to it, if it's conducted above board. A lot of us are quite curious ourselves and would love to have answers to the questions we have.
