Oh man that sounds like loads of fun! I wish I could organize something like that where I live. But most furs I know, live way north from me. D:
A sushi meet would be amazing. Or a Japanese restaurant meet in general, since I can't eat sushi. ;o;

Aww darn! That sucks that you can't eat sushi ;-; I didn't start eating it until recently (2 years ago) but it's good stuff. Only eat it maybe 3 times a year though, if that. At least you can save money since it's so damn expensive XD And yeah it was cool but there were like 25 of us, so we took over literally like half the restaurant, and those of us who got there late (myself included) had to awkwardly stand there waiting for another table to clear, and we had to sit at this secluded 4-person table away from the whole group. D: Furs love their sushi, haha :P Also I bet there are more locals near you than you think, unless you're in a very small town!

I haven't honestly tried to host a meet in my town. It is rather small to me, and any time I do see fur meets most people are way up north. And yeah I guess that is a plus to save money. That really sucks though that you got there late and had to sit further away! I'd be so upset. Part of meets is so you can hang out with a big group and get to know everybody and that'd suck to be away from it all. I hope it was fun anyways! How exactly did the meet get hosted? Did everybody just show up? Or did anybody make reservations?
