This is Jessie Tell, my character from City of Heroes as rendered by John Becaro. It was a quick sketch that I only had to pay seven dollars for so I'm not really upset that all the details weren't present (Aka Jessie wears jeans and converse sneakers.)
In case you haven't guessed by the title Jessie is a martial artist who practices a fictional style of martial arts called the Peaceful Hand. On a basic level the Peaceful Hand is a mystical style that physically makes use of high acrobatics and momentum to be highly mobile in a fight. As well as having a mystical component of the style which uses chi to 'take the earth from under a foes feet.'
Jessie's story is basically the culmination of the old Martial Arts films that I like in which a child is orphaned then chosen by a school of martial artists to carry out training to eventually defeat evil blah blah. Except I decided to turn it on ear by Americanizing the character, usually when a child is orphaned it leads to a set of issues, Jessie's being abandonment issues. These issues were only worsened by the fact that her training mainly consisted of traveling around the Northern states on foot and training pretty much to the brink of destruction. It made her into a rude, crude anti-hero type who prefers to do things alone rather than let herself trust others. The picture doesn't really show it but she's supposed to be underdeveloped (flat chested) due to her training and her emotional underdevelopment.
