It's useful having got into the habit of labelling these "experiments" - it means I have an excuse to upload any sort of musical catastrophe. This is another tatty attempt at playing one of my own songs, from 2006 this time.
I think I'm getting slightly better at the tone in places (I really like the rhythm sound now), helped immensely by the simple device of turning the volume down about halfway after the sound's been through the Amplitube plugin and then going from there. The same can't be said of my playing - there's a lot of time-stretching cheating going on here in the solo section, you can tell where I've used it because they're the parts that sound smooth and half-decent. It's backed by a drum sampler that uses the same samples as my MOD drum set, and a couple of VST instruments (bass, keyboards and choirish vocals) that I found lying around.
I really do love playing the dual parts in harmony with myself, though - that's worth the struggle of the whole thing, when they work. (Therefore the bit that's worth listening to is at about 3:00).
Recorded with the Amplitube 2 Live plugin, in Tracktion 2, with an IK Stealthplug. And a guitar.
Original electronic submission is here
Tablature and MIDI, deviated from almost entirely during this recording

Any and all suggestions for improvement are welcome :) I've been listening to this since putting it up, and it does sound like there's something lacking compared to before - I think my turning the volume down might have gone a bit too far, leaving the other instruments more prominent than they should be, or something like that.
i've tried amplitube in the past, i think it was alright (i'm a pod X3 user, so there's already built-in hardware that does a similar thing)
are you panning the rhythm guitars hard 100% left and right? it creates a much heavier sound
the song composition is pretty good, you have a nice sense of harmony

Thank you! I actually only have one rhythm channel, in the centre - I'll see what difference doubling it all the way left and right makes.
I've had my eye on the Pod X3, though I don't know if it's overkill for what I'm doing - having only ever used one guitar, a practice amp and Amplitube, I'm not totally sure what I should be considering upgrading (I'm cautious against thinking that I need better hardware versus just having to get better with what I have!). I've been told that something sounds off about my pickups, though, so I've been meaning to take it in to have those looked at.
