Even though I knew it was going to happen, I read on; Ignoring my instincts to not confront the feelings. But alas, sometimes people read or watch things specifically to feel these emotions.
The great irony of tragic stories is that we crave the emotional pain they cause. Not really in a masochistic way, but more likely to help us confront painful moments in our own lives.
Powerful stuff.

this is reminding me of how hard it was to cope with Mal's death... for several years I would drink an entire bottle of wine in under an hour by myself and just be a complete mess.
