Heirs to the Throne is a black comedy noir set in the fictional city of Kindling, featuring a host of anthropomorphic characters of various races, but focusing on the wealthy elite of Draconic families. The idea was in development for around 10 years, originally intended as an illustrated art book/murder mystery hybrid that evolved into our first full-length graphic novel. Yup, originally when I was universe building the conceit was Dragons only hired cold blooded scalies, but then I figured that would be a bit boring. There may be some racial bias from the elitists in their society but considering how many assholes in the world like that actually hire from outside their race in the real world it seemed to fit. Also I do at some point in the story plan on addressing just what Dragons actually are in this universe, got a ton of things I can't yet talk about but fingers crossed people enjoy the ride!
Ah nice! Yeah the only hard rule I have about races is no Mythical/magical ones. What about Dragons? Well... spoilers XD. I will say I could have saved myself a bit of a headache & not included avians but frankly since Zootopia came along my ideas on what different races could bring to the story really kicked off. For example, I can say the local arial division of the police are actual avian characters, there is indeed underwater extensions to the city for aquyatic citizens, & EVERYONE keeps their windows & balcony doors locked to keep out thieves who can either fly or climb up walls.
