A few years ago I tried to do 
faint's way of coloring using SAI the way he used to do it a few years ago. I hadn't really done it since but it's the painted look that I like.
I've been wanting to do more detailed coloring other than the way I do it now. Make a selection and then use the gradient tool (photoshop) to lighten the area. It seems slow nowadays.
Of course, the ultimate thing is using 3D. Hopefully I can model at least one character in Blender if I ever get around to try it.
