DONE FINALLY
anyways. This is a late birthday picture for my friend Doodlebot-Squared's (check out of her art on DA) Tangela-morph character, Vine (check out her gallery, it has lots of far more colorful pictures of her!). Sorry <3 But she says it is worth the wait so yay.
This picture. o.o Ohhman. What a challenge. It's by far the most involved background I've ever considered, let alone attempted. But I wanted to do something awesome for Doodles' birthday picture SO. It was a huge challenge- especially the water, I had to do that over multiple times and it's still a little smudgy- but I think it's a nice result, especially for me. I like how the trees came out (though dear god they took so long to render, specially the bark), particularly the one in the extreme foreground and those faint ones in the upper right. Yay vines~
Originally, I intended this to be in color, but first, to force myself to improve my value compositional skills, I drew it all in black and white so I could focus on that without getting distracted by color. In the end, I decided (and some helpful people agreed) that it was a strong enough image without it.
Thanks to all the folks that let me bounce WIPs of this off them and gave advice. :3
And belated happy birthday to you~
