A bit cheeky nicking from Tolkien but eh. I'm tired of seeing hateful Potter fans/bronies/Tolkien fans etc who claim to admire works that speak of kindness, forgiveness and compassion yet treat others like shit.

i agree, every movie based on hobbit and rings so far, has totally focused on the action and battle aspect and totally missed the point of what everything he wrote was trying to be about. but then so do his fanatical 'christian' heirs. and he did write other things i'd love to see translated into visual media. particularly leaf by nigel, and farmer giles of ham.
I think the animated Hobbit and PJ's trilogy managed to retain the spirit and message of the original works. The Hobbit suffered from a lengthy and troubled pre-production and an unfocused/stressed out Peter Jackson. He's apologized for it since. As far as Tolkien goes-I'd love to see someone tackle the Children of Hurin but it's pretty dismal plus almost everyone in it is an asshole. What few decent-minded characters there are end up dead.
not sure i understand why you would want to see done something as you describe your perception of that hurin thing. i agree the animated hobbit was a well intended attempt. there's always compromises to be made translating from one media into another, but what to focus on is a choice also. a choice too often based on what is expected to sell. leaf is the ultimate escape, plus it has a train in it. and ultimate escape to me, is the ultimate point of fictional literature, in any medium.
