i keep making auroral oceans characters but i wanted to make one that would like, more direclty serve as a representational character of myself someone who wasn't super cool and awesome

missing limbs and void magic is not exceptionally singular in the setting since it's my Baby setting and therefore the things i'm super into are super normal because magical realm lol

started off being big into self mutilation and eventually assisted amputation to deal with issues
eventually finances and functionality lead to void adulation instead of mutiliation to deal with issues
shaves her horn down and keeps them from connecting so she can't feel the ocean or other people's souls
her not can function as an arm when she actually needs to but it usualy doesn't manifest a limb there since it still causes discomfort

body integrity disorders and body dysmorphia disorders exist in auroral oceans it's when the soul didn't grow into the limb right and the limb feels alien and out of place, expensive and dangerous manipulator regimens can fix the soul or amputation with cheap prosthetics (prosthetics are affordable by pretty much anyone "middle class") for function that you can take off and relieve the stress

prosthetics are basically always automated and can function with a small battery because they have simple receptors that translate the movement of the soul within the artificial limb into motions. they're still pricey but so long as you're okay with one that is basically only good for walking (do not try to run in a cheap one you will fall on your face) you can get one. body mods is popular and instead of a small market artificial limbs sell to a larger group, esp. people who want to just replace stuff with superior artificial limbs.

gemeren horns usually grow into entwined spirals that get bigger and bigger in their life that serve as sensory organs for aurora (soul stuff), allowing gemeren to constantly be aware of the presence and emotions of all living things around them, which can get pretty uncomfortable if you're kind of tired of having to constantly include other people in your daily experiences

shaving your horns is PRETTY BOLD politic/social statement but in central and the better ancillaries tradition isn't really as strong so you'll just get a lot of double-takes. there are legitimate medical reasons to do it and it's not UNCOMMON for gemeren void adulators to do it to sever their connection to the ocean and allow them to feel the void more directly. advance techniques involve shaping your horn growth into weird shapes that work as void antennae

void adulation has always been a shaky issue in the new world, with some nations OKing it and others outlawing it
central and its ancillaries never was able to come to a serious conclusion, but the recent rebellion of several ancillaries apparently supported by the absolutely most terrifyingly massive void beast ever has lead to a cultural issue in the modern time. people are trying to learn more about void adulation and if it's actually dangerous to allow at all. even in normally accepting central void adulation is under more scrutiny than normal. sucks. fortunately void adulation provides its own means of relieving the stress of daily life (by invalidating auroral experiences and granting the quester a detatched core that's inviolable and disconnected from the world of colors)

ummmm her dedicated secrets are probably the void is everywhere (teleporty), the void sustains (eat void instead of food), uhhh probably other stuff. those are the two i would jump at the most. probably silence/darkness too. semi-differentiated not that can be used freely (think sefia pulling off obiax's pants with her shadows that was the same thing but a lot more xtreme)

auroral-me is wearing an ancillary take on popular central clothing, provincially adapted back into traditional gammerlern style. central clothes are kind of a really weird mix of a'abrin and brinnesch (primarily fetradden) cultures. this cuts the colors back to the more subdued gemeren style and turns it from actual long wraps into fitted skirts and stuff. arm sleeve remains basically the same, but that entered central culture through gammerlern's influence on brinnesche fashions anyway
