And here it is! Christmas of 2008 Saethwr commissioned an orchestral piece. The aim was to recreate Saethwr's rage, ideally through a battle. I had an image in mind of a big dinosaur stomping throughout a city, very much Godzilla style, but with a sadness behind the destruction.
Hope you enjoy!

It actually reminds me of two pieces of John Williams' music - where the tripod comes out of the ground in 'War of the Worlds' and the sequence in Indy 4 where they activate the counterlevel to enter the temple near the climax. It also had sprinklings that reminded me of my recent 'The Old Empty Barn' and a bit of Thunderbirds and a hint of Disney's Dinosaur 1998 showreel. (Yes, I really did think of all that as I was listening to it, aside from Godzilla of course).
First part you pretty much got bang on :P That kind of pushing driving rythm I stole from WotW for this. Just suited it so well I thought! Not seen the other movies, be interesting to see what you mean :)
And heh :P I've never actually seen Godzilla, I just had the image of a big dinosaur smashing things up in an epic manner :)

Whee! My John Williams obsession has finally given me something useful in return! *high fives* It's a decent piece, and yet your own :) The track from Indy sounds very similar to the WotW piece. And when I meant Godzilla, I didn't mean the movie, just the mental image too for me :P
*nods* It is deliberate, the idea is to convey the stamping of the dragon. Like a 'Kerrr-LUMP' sound crashing down on a car or something. It could do with some tightening I agree ^^
I made it using my sequencing software! I always like creating these things as it's not like you can lay down a track for the whole sequence and spur things off it; what I usually do is come up with a story idea in my mind, think of what instruments would be associated with them, then what architectures / ideas etc fit those instruments and the scene. Mostly this involves recalling scenes from movies or ideas I have seen before and trying to string them all together. Finally I input them into the sequencer and fiddle around until I am happy, this usually takes a few interations.
Glad you enjoy, thanks for the q's! :)
