"Come here Knight, you're not gonna fucking believe this." Mage was rubbing his hands in excitement, a wide smile on his face. "Give me your glove and band." I did as he said, raising a brow all the while. He fiddled with them for a while, humming to himself, before throwing them at me. "There!"
I put the glove back on, feeling for any difference. "What did you do?"
"Remember how I said the Aegis tech had potential for more than just a hard-light barrier? Well, check your band!"
I did as he said, noticing the new program he must have added; the icon a smiling lizard. The second it booted up, it gave me a screen with two options, neither labeled.
"You'll have to forgive me, I forgot to label them in my excitement. But uh, the first is your barrier as always, of course, but the second." He started giggling a bit. "The second is going to be real fun!"
"You're scaring me a bit, Mage." But, I once again decided to say fuck it.
I tapped the second option and held my gloved hand out as always, the diamonds glowing ever so slightly just a bit as matter began to form. But this time it wasn't simply being projected, instead it seemed to be actually forming a coherent shape. I watched with wide eyes as the object took form, and, after a minute, clanked to the ground.
With wide eyes I picked up the sword, running it along my hand. It was obviously sharp, enough so that it drew blood from my palm by accident. "Fuck!" I cried out, dropping it again.
Mage shook his head and grabbed a cloth, wrapping my hand up with it. "God's sake Knight, you'd think you'd that swords are sharp. Still, what do you think?"
"It's...a sword. What the hell am I going to do with a sword?" I asked him.
"Well, interrogations, close quarters if you lose a gun."
"Yeah, why didn't you just make a gun to begin with? I mean look, I'm fucking impressed here, don't get me wrong Mage." I winced a bit as he took some alcohol and poured it on the wound. "But why the hell start with something a bit useless?"
"No moving parts, simple shape, and as much as you dismiss it, there is potential here, Knight. I mean, think of how often you use a knife. This is just a really, really long knife. Besides," he rolled his eyes. "Your name is Knight, you should have one anyways."
I actually laughed at the joke. "Well, as long as this is just a start?"
He nodded. "Oh yes. I've already got several ideas, and now that I know I can actually make something out of Aegis tech, the posibilites are endless. Think about it Knight; hard-light armor, guns, rope, whatever you need in the field, on command."
I looked at the sword on the ground, the humming from the light it gave off ringing in my ears, the small amount of blood still covering the blade. "Yeah. Yeah Mage, this really is a hell of a start."
