It is true. Listen Galen, there is no such thing as a 'one true love.' I do love you, never think otherwise, and if I could I'd be with you all my life. But I'm not the only person in the world who can love you, nor am I the only person in the world that you can come to love.
That's not a statement often found in fiction (or anywhere else). Kudos for having the gumption to come out and say that.

I always kind of want to boot the heroine (or hero) in the face when they start going on about "one true love" I dated a guy who thought I was his destined partner for a while, and he was a complete lunatic. It's not a safe or sane attitude to have. He turned into a really creepy stalker when I broke up with him, because I was "the one" and he HAD to be with me. *shudder* So yeah.
