Sear Sasha: This reminds me of a ghost strory I watched in Tv years ago: qan Indian mage did amazing tricks with his rope... the bad guy tries to buy the rope, to no avail; ergo, he murders the mage and gets the rope. Baaad isea.
When he tries to repeat the trick (the mage had taught him how to do acts with the magic rope), the rope raises, pf course but then jumps agaisnt him, flogging him first and then forming a hanging noose... well, you can imagine the rest (mercifully brpight to the viewer by silhouettes against the wall)
The rope was more than magic: it was alive and avenged her owner.
