Kyra Hammerlord and Kyra the Firebrand. Two opposing mirror images, divergent due to past choices. This is the spiritual sequel to Triplicate, and now I can properly explain just what’s going on between all the Kyra’s and Geldra’s.
Reave Dustwake, the father of Kyra and Geldra. Unlike most charr sires or dams, he make an effort to be involved in his daughters’ daily lives. His parenting continued even as he lost his warband and wealth over the years, and eventually he was killed in action. The year was 1319, and Reave was another simple gladium consigned to escorting supply dolyaks between towns. Just so happens that some local bandits were looking for a quick score that day. When Kyra picked up his belongings at the mortuary, she made a key choice that would decide the remainder of her life, and in a roundabout way, influence herself twice.
In one future, Kyra would recommit to the legions, dedicating herself to prove her father’s devotion was worthwhile and to vindicate his lowly status. She would grow in reputation and rank, eventually reaching a current peak of Iron Legion centurion. In another future, Kyra would dismiss the legions that equally dismissed her father, and go out to forge her own path unrestrained by any regulation or expectation. With her last name lost, she would head alone into the Mists, developing notoriety as a fierce fighter. Through the actions of the elder sibling, Geldra would also have her paths shaped. The former would result in the honing of her mesmer skills and budding reputation for deep-cover espionage, while the latter would chase after Kyra’s tail, entering the Mists herself in search of her. On one side, Kyra Hammerlord and Geldra the Reticent. On the other, Kyra the Firebrand and Geldra Vaporstep. Of course, since the Mists persists as multiple facets of Tyria, both of these scenarios played out. And they would also converge.
Kyra F would eventually run into Geldra V, the latter joining Kyra H during an outing in the Mists. And at the younger’s pleading, F would be moved into Kyra H’s dimension, finally reunited. But unlike the “annoyed-but-begrudging-acceptance” between Geldra R and her clones, Kyra H butt heads with her doppelganger much more often, due to the decisions they made surrounding Reave’s passing. F sees H as weak-willed through surrounding herself in a broken system, while H dislikes F for her selfishness and abandonment of Geldra. Frankly, the only time they’re willing to work together is at the younger siblings’ behest (all three of them, at times). Despite this, here they are now on full display.
(Long story short, I made an alternate version of the Kyra/Geldra dynamic, then took the A out of AU)
