Painted this as a gift for one of my idol artists, thanshuhai

Thanks for being such a great inspiration to us, and for sharing your work with the community! You are greatly admired by many whom may never speak a word to you, but silently adore the dedication behind your art*is totally not talking about herself*. ;u;
For this piece, I wanted a distinct story element in play (of course, open to interpretation by the viewer). I feel that Rikkun's design (most notably his 2017 look) would work very well set in an action-adventure genre of media, and as such, I gained bits of inspiration from games such as Uncharted for the environment. No photo-textures were used here (as great as they are for commercial work), because I wanted natural human emotion to show through raw brushwork. Hopefully it worked without looking too messy!
I digress; Rikkun, you have inspired me throughout the years I have been following you, and I really wanted to do something to return the favor. I hope you like it! I look forward to the many years we have ahead of us, as artists, always learning and always improving. It's fascinating to watch the development, as art is ever changing and ever growing with us.
(Side note: This also makes a pretty spiffy wallpaper.)
More gifties for other inspirations to come this year. I want to take time in between commission work to give back to the community that has done so much for me. Thanks, everyone!

This is amazing! I'm blown away. I love the colors here and the depth of the background, really shows how vast the world is, giving a sense of discovery and adventure. I really love this piece ;w;
