Soldier Girl
So I recently picked up Call of Duty: World at War for the PS3 and have been playing the shit out of it for a good two weeks now. (Nazi Zombies is fuckin' awesome) Anyway, it inspired me to dig up, and consquently redo on of my older characters - Esther Grey. She's from a story I came up with a while ago about the only American female enlisted as a soldier in World War II. (completely fictional by the way) If you've seen the old picture I did of her you'll notice some drastic changes to her apperance. I decided blue fur just didn't lend any credence to the character whatsoever. I also started coming up with a rough idea of her battle history:
Ahem! Esther started her tour in the Japanese occupied territories fighting in the Gilbert & Marshall Island Campaign until March 1944 when her unit was subsequently transferred in preparation for Operation Overlord. On June 6, 1944 She landed on the Easy Green sector of Omaha Beach, and, post D-Day, participated in several more engagements leading up to The Battle of the Bulge. Esther's status after the battle is unknown, but she is officially labled as M.I.A. since her body was never found.
Esther is seen here two days after the invasion of Omaha Beach patroling near a former Wehrmacht bunker. In addition to her regular gear, she usually carries with her a Japanese Type 99 LMG which saved her life During the Marine raid on Makin Atoll. Her rifle jammed during a Banzai charge and she managed to grab the weapon just in in time to save herself.
If you can't tell already, I'm a bit of a World War II buff. I also collect...Hmm not memorabilia...memorabilia just doesn't seem like an apropriate word for artifacts from the most destructive conflict in human history, but you understand what I'm trying to say.
Happy Thoughts,
TA
(Oh and yay for my 100th submission!)
