Machiel, the exiled prince.

For too long has he watched the slow, sad decline of the king, paranoia and fear enveloping him as his body slowly succumbs to his mysterious disease. Machiel had long believed that only strength should rule - a king must be sound of both body and mind to be of any use to his people, and his sad excuse of a father is no longer fit to rule. When confronted, the king ordered his guardsmen to imprison Machiel - something they were sadly ill-prepared to do. Even outnumbered, the hulking juggarnaut of a lion managed to escape - his father proved much stronger than anticipated, powered by the rot that consumes him. Machiel vowed to return, to claim what's his by any means necessary. Even now, ridden with rot and consumed with fury as he is, he remains stoic, calm, healthy. Yes, a king must be healthy, so that he can rule for many decades to come...
