Endless Realms bestiary - Psionic Vortex
Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.
More dream realm creature concepts - this one is pretty self-explanatory, and basically works like a psionic black hole surrounded by a dangerous whirlwind of highly reactive chaos energy. I imagine it's typically not visible in this form, but instead creates a seductive tugging force that compels the minds of those nearby to draw nearer, threatening to consume their minds the closer they get, and could be potentially harnessed by less ethical mages to drive foes mad, or draw out the souls of victims, leaving hollow vessels to fill later. Perhaps it was created by an overambitious chaos mage who lost control of their power, or perhaps it is a naturally occurring phenomenon in the dream realm?

Oh oh continuation off of the last idea with the circus scenario. So maybe the theifes take said crystal and now that they have a crystal that brings the waking and dream world together, you find some of the theives completely mad. Like one standing on their head trying to run mad. While one of them has completely lost themselves and is a hollow vessel for another creature. Though something else would have taken the crystal and left clues behind for spot checks, and when searching the area.
